I bought a new AB60PN to replace my AV49/Duron 1.4 that had problems. That
was my first Shuttle board in around 30 that had any trouble. I bought a
1.7gig Celeon and installed a good 256 DDR2100(checked with memtest86)
stick. I have been building PCs as a hobby for 14 years. I have connected
both power connectors, RAM, CPU, and video card, and this thing powers up,
fans go, and a LED on the mobo lights, but no boot and no beeps. I swapped
the video card with both an AGP and a PCI, reset the bios, and manually set
the bus to 100 and still no boot. And I reset the CPU again. Am I missing
something? Any other ideas. The PS worked with the AV49 although it didn't
use the 4 pin P4 connector. The CPU, video, and RAM were tested in the old
board and are OK. I thought I would dump the VIA/AMD mobo/cpu for a good ol
Intel chipset and Intel CPU because the other was giving me trouble. Now I
have two bad mobos. The AV49 did boot, just had lots of errors when I tried
to load XP/XP pro/2000/98/or 95. I have used probably over 30 different
Shuttle mobos and have never had any trouble. Just bad luck I guess.
Please let me know if I am missing something.
Thanks

Figured it out. I checked the Shuttle website and compatible CPUs, and the
Willamette Celerons up to 1.9gigs won't work. That sucks. Now I need to
get another CPU. I would have thought a new board would be backward
compatible, but I guess not.
