Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>elitegroup (more info?)

I have been pulling my hair out with the problem I have having with my
K75SA MoBo. I recently decided to upgrade my system.
I now run an XP 2000+ with 1G DDR Ram. No problem here.
I have also bought a WinFast 340TD graphics card. When trying to boot
Win ME after installing the driver the system locks at the point there
the graphics driver loads. No amount of fiddling makes any difference.
Next I have tried to use an external Network card Netgear 311. This
causes a conflict with the CD Rom drives and if it managed to get into
Windoz it is without the CD Rom drives.

I have applied the BIOS updates – all 13 of them and apart from proper
recognition of the CPU it is useless.
I have looked everywhere for the revision of the board but it is
nowhere to be seen so I guess it is a 1st of the line.

Can anyone help please? An email sent direct as well as to the group
would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob………………….

The K7S5A and the FA311 are incompatible and will not work together under
any circumstances. You will have to use another card.

As far as the graphics card problems are concerned, set the display to
"Standard VGA 640x480" and reboot in safe mode. In device manager, remove
references to old/redundant devices. Reboot and install new device drivers.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Bob, you need to pull everything out of your computer but the
graphics card and one memory chip. Then start adding things back in,
one at a time. You say you got in windows without the CD. That's
fine, just uninstall them and boot up your system without them - A
COUPLE OF TIMES. Let windows do its thing and when you install them
and reboot it will automatically install them. reboot a couple of
times after each change and don't change but one thing at a time.

Jiml

ps: I'm running a Netgear FA310 TX on my K7S5A Pro.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

The FA310 works fine, the FA311 does not!
