Have tried to load Win95, Win98, and a ME upgrade. Get the same kind of
error each time. It almost completely loads. Sometimes goes to "Safe
Mode". Get "While intializing device IOS, Windows protection error, must
restart computer" message. Have swapped video cards AGP (ATI & 3dfx) also
PCI video card. Same everytime. Hard drive tests OK. Also swapped memory.
Does anyone have any idea what this is pointing to? What is IOS?

You say you're trying to upgrade the OS? This sounds like a file corruption
problem and not hardware. You may need to do a clean install of Windows.

Here's a site that lists possible fixes.

Try underclocking the memory and CPU and see if that helps.
