I am thinking about replacing a Soyo K7VTPro with the Shuttle AK32E, and
using an AMD 1700+ TBred along with probably a 256 MB plus a 128 MB SDRAM.
Anyone have comments on the quality and stability of this board? Thanks
in advance.

I can't say anything about the E revision but I have the AK32L and since
upgrading from an Athlon 1.1 to an XP2000+ i've been having a random system
freeze i've yet been able to track down. I've dont multiple complete system
reinstalls of both XP and Win2k and still they come. I'm currently leaning
towards thinking it's from using older SDram that can't keep up with the
cpu's clock speed.

At any rate, do yourself a favor and if you upgrade, go to 266 DDR ram.
Sysoft Sandra reports my PC133 Ram is starving the cpu because it can only
run 1 cycle at a time at 133 rather then the dual data rate of DDR memory.

I also have the AK32L, with a 1700+. I'm using 98SE and 512MB of
PC2100 DDR and I have had no problems. It runs 24/7. I agree that your
problem is probably due to using SDRAM. Memory's cheap - load up.

I have installed thirteen AK32 in the past seven months, with only one failure.
Sound quit working with Win XP after about six months. Replaced with new AK32E
and problem solved. Only one AK32E installed so far. The older AK32A's have
been very stable boards.
