| Anyone here have this mobo? I am considering it to replace a dead board in
my son's system. If you have experience with this board, please relay it
here. TIA.

Hi Frank,
Well, this is my 4th build with the AK39N. I built one unit for
myself, and three I built for clients. Never had a problem, never had
a blue screen with the first boot, nada. This board is very fast, and
goes up to 333FSB (166). Be sure to match the FSB with your CPU and
memory for max speed.
Sound is excellent, and 6 channel if you want but you must provide a
SPDIF output. I think Newegg has them for around $30 if I remember
right. But the normal stereo sound is as good as any Soundblaster
card. If you have any other questions just post back. >> Stay informed about: AK39N |

Excellent. I picked this board because I'm replacing a dead Epox 8KHA+,
which was running an XP2100+ (t'bred) and 512 MB of PC2100 DDR memory. The
AK39N looked a likely replacement, and the price was good.

Hi Jeff,
I have built 20 machines with this MB and XP in the past 6 months.
Honest I had horrible memeory problems and XP install errors in the
beginning. Got that worked out and now I have 4 users who constantly
complain about crashes annd memory errors. Tried many memory settings
and many different sticks with no change. I won't by any more
Shuttle's. The support sticks and you get what you pay for (cheap$$).
I am going back to Giga-Byte.

Shannon, see my post of today re: memory and this mobo. I too was ready to
pull it and send it back, til I figured out what the deal was. Now, all is
well.

| Related Topics: | AK39N feedback - This is just an "in general" topic question; Other than removing the jumper on the board to bump up the FSB to 266, does anybody have any suggestions or "discoveries" on how to increase performance on the AK39N board? I got a stick o...
All you AK39N owners... - I just checked the Newegg prices for the AK39N. Newegg has the AK39N listed at 266/333FSB (they used to list it at 266 tops). If you go to the Shuttle website they still have the 39N as topping out at 266FSB. I can't understand how it could be a typo o...
AK39N Many Problems with XP - I have some Problems with this MB! The newest Message: "Bad_Pool_Caller". What is the Reason for this Error? Can someone tell me? My Config: Athlon XP 2600+, PC3200, ATI Radeon 9000, WD 800BB, 400W Power, The CPU and the Memory are Jumpered wit...
AK39N, doesn't recognize the bus freq - I just replaced a burned out mobo and power supply with a new AK39N. All seems well except the mobo recognizes the CPU as 100mhz and it is 133mhz AMD 1000. When I go to the frequency setup in bios it only lets me change it to 132, not 133. Is that OK?...
AK39N, can't get Windows XP to load - I have an AK39N, Athlon 1000, 256megs DDR/266, new 40 gig Maxtor, ATI Rage 128 pro AGP. I tried fixing a bad WinME install by upgrading to XP home. It didn't recognize the previous ME install. So, I bought a new 40 gig drive and tried a fresh install.... |
