I just replaced a burned out mobo and power supply with a new AK39N. All
seems well except the mobo recognizes the CPU as 100mhz and it is 133mhz AMD
1000. When I go to the frequency setup in bios it only lets me change it to
132, not 133. Is that OK? Why doesn't it recognize my CPU as a 1000/133?
Seems odd. Just making sure I am not causing a problem later. Other than
that, it seems to work fine and the CPU is not too hot. When I change the
bus to 132, it says I have a AMD 990, is that correct? Shouldn't it say
1000?
Thanks

The AK39N has a small jumper near the CPU, which if removed boosts the
FSB to 133 (266 with DDR)otherwise the default with the jumper
installed is 100. Just pull it off altogether. I am at work right now
or I would tell you precisely, but check your manual, it's in there.
I've built 3 units with the AK39N board and it's a great board.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: AK39N, doesn't recognize the bus freq |

Great thanks! The manual said it was jumperless, but I couldn't set the
freq to 133 in BIOS. Thought that was odd. But the jumper did the trick.

Glad I could help, Skier. Yeah, I noticed that too about the
"jumperless" lingo; I am just guessing, but way-y-y-y back in the
days of yore, a board had to be jumpered depending on what processor
and ram was used. Now that's not necessary. But I'm just guessing.
I've never seen a board that doesn't have jumpers of some kind. >> Stay informed about: AK39N, doesn't recognize the bus freq |
