My system has been basically all out doing prime95 torture tests for
about 4 days and now the system temps are in the low-mid 40C range.
The CPU temp is generally only a few degrees warmer than the system
temps. The room is quite warm ATM, but still... Is this acceptable,
or should I look at increasing case cooling?
I notice when the PC is booting, the fan noise is quite loud, almost
like a mini-vac, but when I get into Windows, the fans slow down a lot.
I am not sure exactly what is controlling the fan speed here. I
haven't really done anything with the OC Guru, and it is not set to
load at OS start, but would that be it, anyway?
Are these temps anything to worry about? Certainly higher than any
systems I have dealt with in the past.
Thx,
Gerald >> Stay informed about: AN8 system temps |

Look... I know some chips run hotter than others and what have you.
But I am unfamiliar with what to expect with this particular board and
CPU, which is why I thought I would ask here. I know its an assinine
question that's probably been asked many times before. The problem
with search engines is that if you search on keywords like Athlon 64
and AN8 and temperature, etc, you wind up having to sift through
86,000,000,000 posts to find one of the 20,000,000 that actually
answers your question.
I'll admit: I am a lazy SOB. It's a lot easier for me just to ask and
hope somebody pleasant will answer. >> Stay informed about: AN8 system temps |

Not worried. The CPU temp seems fine. The case/system temps just seem
sort of high, especially the delta between them and the CPU are
sometimes negative if the CPU quits crunching. Temp readings depend on
how and where they are taken and every system is different. Maybe all
AN8s system temps read high or what have you. I would think that I
have plenty of case cooling, but maybe not.
I figured out that it was the vidcard fan that quietens down once the
OS loads. >> Stay informed about: AN8 system temps |

When you say the room temp is quite warm, what is the actual temp? 24C may
seem quite warm for you but 34C is quite warm for me. If my overclocked
XP2800 only ran about 10C above room temp, I'd be ecstatic! As it is, I am
happy with room temp + 17C for idle and +27C for 100% CPU usage.

As far as I remember, once I upgraded the mobo bios the temps reported by u
guru changed a bit.
It seems the sensors can be (and probably are) reequilibrated as the new
mobo bios is released.
Maybe this is the case.... Have you tried upgrading it yet?
