Hi all

In need of a little assistance.

Just installed this board in a m8's box, having some issues with the
IDE channel

We set up 2x 250Mb disks on the SATA raid and enabled them ok, boot,
good windows install no probs.

Then after build weshut down the box, installed a 200GB drive on the
IDE channel.
#
On reboot we get a CMOS error have to re setup everything in bios RAID
wise
then, reboot, it takes the bios changes ok, but wont boot from the
raid with the ide drive on. All the appropriate settings have been
set in the bios, but with the ide drive in she wont boot.

Remove IDE drive, all ok.

It's like the board defaults to an ide boot when an ide drive is in
there even thou u tell it to boot from the raid. Most odd

I cant help but wonder if its something to do with the ide controller,
we also experienced a lot of problems with cd/dvd drives.

In the end an older drive seemed better than a new cd/dvd burner
combo, here we looking at disk read errors and unabale to boot from
cd, as well as unable to read some cd's.

Drives ok in other machines.

Any ideas

thoughts? Bios upgrade maybe when one comes out

Otherwise a very nice board this one, nice on Abit.

Thx

I had the same problem. I ended up removing the IDE hard drive. I lost
80GB of storage space, but the system refused to boot on a SATA drive until
I removed the one from the IDE cable.
