Post subject: AOpen DVD CDRW install problem
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>aopen (more info?)

Presently have a A7N8X deluxe with Barton 3000
Two Hard Drives on Primary IDE
One CDRom as master on Secondary IDE

I'm trying to install a AOpen DVD+CDRW as the Slave on the Secondary.
Jumper is set to slave.
Bios does detect it as DVD
But XP Pro/sp1 goes to Blue Screen with a message something like:
DRIVE_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I've tried a different cable.
I've tried disconnecting the other CDRom and setting the AOpen as Master on
the cable and with the jumper.
All have the same result.

If I start XP in Safe Mode, System does say the drive is there with no
conflicts.

I tried the AOpen in a different machine, different MB and it worked on the
first try as the slave.

Can anyone come up with a suggestion?
I'd sure appreciate it.
Can't get through to AOPEN tech support.

Please and Thank You

This is a longshot, but try updating the IDE drivers for your motherboard.
Also make sure the secondary IDE settings in the BIOS are set properly for a
CDROM drive.

Thanks for the advice but I had done/checked that.
I finally got it working.
I had to delete/remove Nero INCD from the system.
Found that looking the the knowledgebase.
But trying to reinstall INCD only partially works now.
I can read/write to the CDRW but I can't get the menu to format a new disk
etc.

I have downloaded the newest ide, INCD files etc.

Will keep trying.
