Today I bought Abit AS8 mobo. http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/products.php?categories=1&model=191
It have a RAID controller which id like to use in future, but im receiving some signals about problems with it. its supposed to be some "Software" controller. i cant find any knowledge about that, but that software stuff can use large amount of processor power.
any one knows anything about that problem? mayby have the same mobo model?

sorry for that language mess, im not english fluent.
tia for any help.

The RAID controller on this board is a sort of halfway house between pure
software RAID and a true dedicated hardware solution, although it's nearer
the "hardware" than the "software" end of the scale. It uses a small amount
of processor resources but many people run this sort of solution and it
works fine for most. Given the cost and complexity of a full hardware
controller it's a more than acceptable compromise for most situations.
