Neill, Win XP ALWAYS creates a boot sector on an IDE drive if it finds
one when installing. I learned this when installing XP on an array &
found the boot files had been dumped on an IDE drive, ignoring my
wishes. The way to avoid it is take out the IDE drive when installing,
then put it back in again when the install is complete.

If XP install is already complete, you can manually copy the boot
files to the SATA drive & edit boot.ini to point to the SATA. Then
delete the unwanted files from the IDE drive. You may need to run
fixmbr and/or fixboot from the XP CD to make it work, or perhaps do a
repair install (without the IDE drive connected).<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks for the reply Steve.
I will try removing the drives and rebuilding.
