I have an ABIT BE6 II
and have left the power cord plug in the power supply when I went to CLEAR
CMOS and the ABIT board powered itself back on again, I
quickly pull the power cord out. Now when I switch it on, all I get is a
blank screen, NO power running the CPU plus CASE fan the but the power
supply is ON.
CAN ANY PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS IS FIXABLE....
ThankYou. >> Stay informed about: BE6 II problems |

Welcome to the club.
I fixed it several times but don't know exactly how.
Clear again, or remove the cpu and plug it in again, removing memory and plug it
in again, ...
Nothing harmful, but scary the first time.

did you put the jumper back onto the correct pins (1 & 2) for normal
operation?

Hi,
yes I can also *attest* to this unusual behaviour exhibited by the good old
BE6-II. I had this issue the first time I built on it. The results is a PC
that won't boot, all the fans will spin and stuff like that but no VGA
on-screen and no load into Windows. Never could get to the bottom of this
one, but the fix could be like reseating your CPU or Mem or Graphics Card,
one time I had to remove the mobo from the case and *rebuild* my machine
(was at a beginning of a LAN party where I was DM'ing a game of NWN. . .not
good!).
In short if I move my case much or play with the components inside there is
a *chance* of this weird no-boot situation happening. Been like that since
day one, and no none of the capacitors are leaking/bulging. But to be fair
I have allot of respect for the BE6-II. I think I had mine about 4 years
now and its still going strong (clean it out twice a year!).
Sorry I can't be more help, but either your mobo is broken, or more than
likely it has been struck by a period of *Black-Death*. . hang in there and
good luck!

sounds like an intermittent connection at the CPU slot connector or
something like that...

This is why you are supposed to disconnect the power cord (or switch off the
PSU). I go a step further. I also disconnect the power connector to the
motherboard and after setting the cmos jumper to clear, I pull the battery
too. This has never failed me.
Basically, you need to clear the cmos all over again. Use the above
sequence this time. Let it sit in clearing mode for 5 minutes minimum.
