you need to just set the bios to the 3 gig cpu in the presets but make sure
you pick a preset that has the external fsb at 200. or select a user define
cpu setting and set the fsb to 200 and lock the pci/agp bus and set the NB
to 800.

Hey Tom G! I've read your posts with pleasure for years now. Thanks
for the reply!
There is no preset in the Phoenix Bios for CPU that I can find. Let me
do a bios verson update check and get back to you.
I have the FSB set to 200. Vas is Das NB? Here all this time I
thought I knew what I was doing!
Thanks, again for any assistance.

reinstall the old processor and get things stable. flash the bios up to the
newest bios and I am quite sure that there will be a preset for a 3 gig cpu
as they have been in existence for some time.
NB = Northbridge and there is an NB setting in the bios so that you can
either have NB set to By CPU so the bios detects the cpu and sets the NB
automatically, then there is manual settings for the NB to set it to 400,
533, 800, etc.

Tom:
You know, after messing around for a day, I just went out and
purchased a new IC7 MAX3. The bios is much more adaptable, and the
board seems happy with the processor. The old board could not run at
800 FSB anyway!
Re installing XP as I type this. We'll see how it goes!
Thanks again!

us, the IC7 series sure *could* run at 800 FSB! I run a 2.8c (800 FSB) cpu
on my IC7-G right now. but glad you are happy with the new board...

WOW, What a great board!
Works like a charm. Man, those SATA drives are fast!
So far so good!
Oh, one funny problem: The cheap new case I bought had a bad power
switch! Never heard of that one before!

Or 1000 fsb, or 1100 fsb (where mine is as I type this,) and sometimes even
1200 fsb. Quad-pumping makes such big numbers ;>)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: BIOS Settings IC7 P4 3.0 Mhz Processor |
