I recently moved my motherboard and hardrives into a new case with a new
power supply, dvdrom, cdrw, floppy.

I anticipated no problems, however there has been 1 nagging problem.
Whenever I perform a soft reset in windows the bios fails to detect my
primary master hardrive. This is not a problem however when I perform a hard
power down and restart using the case power switch or windows shutdown
command.

Ive reflashed my bios, switched cables, and set jumpers on hardrive from
forced master / slave to cable select, all to no resolution.

My motherboard is a Soyo SY-TISU and bios is tisu2aa2.bin

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chaz

Probably not your situation, but a tangential comment. As a part of
tweaking my boot process, there was a time in the past when I removed
all automatic detection routines from my BIOS. No CD-ROM detection,
hard drives all manually defined, etc. Windows operating systems are
perfectly happy without that happening in BIOS. My situation was when I
made an XP boot disk on CD, it took me three days of trying to figure
out why it wouldn't function until my "D'OH" moment of going through my
BIOS line by line and remembering what I had done months before.

It's not something as simple as that, is it? Conversely, if you DO
currently have everything on the default automatic, had you tried doing
a manual configuration to define the hard drive yourself? I'd
personally stick with my own master/slave definitions and not try the
Cable Select route. What size hard drives are you talking about here?

Your problem is most likely your jumpers/cables set-up as you have not
changed your motherboard.

1. Your hardrive should be cable select or master by itself on your primary
IDE.
2. Your CDR and DVD should be cable select or jumper mode on your secondary
IDE. In order to use Cable select, you must be using ATA66 cables. In
order to using jumper mode, both drives must be jumper mode. Ie you can't
have one in jumper (master) while the other is in cable select.
3. Floppy is on its own anyway.

Your Bios should be set to auto, and it will detect the drives in the
opening page, once that is happening, Windows should follow (with proper
drivers)
