I have a KT-400 Ultra Platinum with bios version kvx4-2aa2, it looks like
the latest is a7. I have not upgraded because from what I have read the rule
of 'if it isn't broke, don't try to fix it' seems to apply here. I am
upgrading to a XP 2500 Barton CPU and was wondering if the bios will need to
be upgraded. I guess I'll find out soon enough when I get it, but just
trying to prepare ahead of time.

Thanks
-Rick

I believe that you need to go to 2aa5 for Barton support, but the info on
Soyo download support page for KT400DUP does no longer show this
information. 2aa6 adds support for 3000+ Barton though.......

Also, if you use Raid, you might need to update raid drivers to current

If you do an upgrade, i think it's better to do it from Windows instead from
DOS - so you see if there come to error during flashing and you can repeat
it. Utility for this is Winflash and can be found at
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/winFlash.html" target="_blank">http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/winFlash.html</a>

YOu can select to reset CMOS from there, too since some flashes require to.
So, you don't need to mess around jumper and battery.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
