Hello all,
I'm new to this group so please be gentle. Smile

I'm thinking of upgrading my pc, I currently have an AMD XP Athlon 3000+
running with 1 gig of DDR 3200 Ram and an Ati 9800 Pro gpu. I was wondering what
you guys would reckon would be the best way to go, given that I have a budget
ceiling of £1000, I'm asking this as I have lost touch with chips etc in the
last 2 years and the latest AMD cpus have confused me somewhat.
Your genuine advice would be most welcome and very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who is kind enough to reply.

If you have that much to spend, I would go for AMD 64 X2 dual core (maybe
4200+), 939 motherboard (Asus A8N-SLI Premium), 2GB of memory, and a Nvidia
7800 video card (various brands).

Do you intend to use any components that you already have in the new
machine? If so, please be as specific as possible as to the details of what
components you are going to transfer to the new machine.

Manufacturer, make, model number, etc.

Mark,

That's almost the exact spec system I am looking at. But I'm just
over $1200 for it. Where are you able to put this system together for
$1000 including case and powersupply?

thanks
