Hello.
My problem is that my CD drive is somehow incompatible with my system
hardware, whose motherboard is a SOYO. The drive is a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD
GCC-4480B, from LG, and the M/B is a SY-6VBA133. The drive reads
everything fine, but can't burn CDs correcly. I'm convinced the
problem is with the hardware, but not with the drive itself, since it
works on other computers.
I've tryed changing the IDE cables, the power cables, making the drive
master and slave, I've also upgraded the firmware to 1.02. Nothing
worked. I downloaded a hardware analyser from the SOYO site
(HWDoctor), and it seems the voltage of both my Vcore and VTT are
lower than they should (I don't even know what those are). The Vcore
is working at 1.71V and the VTT at 1.5V. Could that be a problem, and
could that be related to my CD-burning problem?
Please, help me! Here follows my system info and a detailed
explanation of the problem:
---------------------------------------------------
M/B: SOYO SY-6VBA133
BIOS revision: 6VBA133_2BAB (latest on SOYO's webpage)
CPU: Pentium III 700 Mhz
RAM: 384 MB DIMM
HDD: Fujitsu 20 GB
---------------------------------------------------
I recently bought a LG combo CD drive - HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4480B. It
reads DVDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs just fine. However, it cannot burn CD-Rs
correctly. I've tryed burning in different scenarios:
1. Windows 98 SE + Easy CD Creator 5.0
2. Windows XP Pro + Nero Express
Always in low burning speeds, buffer always up to 90%. The same thing
occurs: the burning seems to go on fine, but the data verification
fails. During the verfication, Nero says that it "cannot mount CD",
and EZCD just hangs there forever checking the data. So, the CDs
aren't burned correcly, can't even be read by any CD drives.
The trouble is not with the drive, since it works just fine on another
computer where I tested it. I even changed it on the store where I
bought it, but the same problem happens. The trouble doesn't seem to
be with the software either, since I tryed it in different scenarios.
So, it seems the problem is that the drive is somehow uncompatible
with my system's hardware.
---------------------------------------------------
Thank you very much for your time & help.
