And a 3rd suspicion:
Check the capacitors on your board.
If any are domed or are leaking reddish/brownish crud, you're a victim of
bad capacitors. This was a common problem among every manufacturers boards
for a period of time due to a bad electrolyte formulation being in
circulation.
If you're a victim of bad caps, you'll need to have them replaced on the
board. Abit had a class action lawsuit settlement on the bad caps issue,
but the settlement period has passed. I've heard they're still accepting
RMA's for the affected boards in the United States (it was a USA only
settlement) .. and may also be elsewhere in the world. You might check with
Abit's RMA department to see if you can get the board repaired under an
extended warranty.
