You would think there should be a way to write out a list of your CMOS
settings. Maybe the choice of writing to a:\ or c:\

Yes, there is.

Google is always your friend.

It might have been nicer if you had added a few useful URLs to the
above reply, based on your Google search.

I thought the same. Distinctly unhelpful. Not sure why 0_Qed bothered
to post.

Out of interest, I went and had a look on Google. On this occasion
Google was not my friend. I did not find the correct selection
criteria, that gave useful results.

I use a parallel connected laser printer. Print Screen on the keyboard
while cycling through the settings screens works, however nothing is
printed until a page is full.

That is normal operation. I don't know how to get around that
limitation except to continue to hit printscreen until it prints.

after each printscreen you'll need to press the formfeed button on the
printer to get it to eject the page.

I too found no such tool using google, never heard of one either. bios's
should have this "feature", printing a full summary of all screens -
that'd be nice, and useful for both user and tech support calls.
someday...

John,

I can fully understand your point of view(POV) ,
but,
respectfully beg to disagree with that POV.

'Yes',
it would have provided the poster with "fish" ,
but not provided the OP with the tools( incentive ?? ) for DIY.

"Push come to Shove" ...
pencil put to paper is yet a good tool for recording CMOS menue entries.

Now ...
I think you'll agree that the concept/bkgrnd(C/B) of "CMOS"
has been around since the Dino 'ages' ...
no mystery 'there' .
Added, you'll probably agree that 'C/B' for the ESCD
is a bit more arcane, shrouded in darkness ...

My POV ,
wrt the OP's post, was that the subject of 'CMOS'
was a =far= simpler one to "self_fathom" ... DIY_wize ...
than the 'ESCD'.
Noting that ...
.. I gave the OP good reason to =know= that such tools existed , and
.. that "Google" was a good tool to 'ferret' such tool(s) out ,
I felt I'd done my Good Deed for the day ... in more than One(1)
respect.

In point of =fact=, such a "tool( feature?? )"
exists in several great ptn bashers,
also going as far as providing 'save' ptn boot_blocks to ptn Fat(1 & 2)
tables.

Having been 'put' upon the Carpet of Critique , Smile ,
may I now gracefully 'exit' stage left
*if* my 'defense' stands the measure ???

Had the OP rendered a <?> re: the 'ESCD',
I probably would have been a bit more detailed in "pointers".

'We' all have the capability to lift ourselves by our boot_straps,
or
not do "such" lifting.

Nicholas,

Yes ... noted.

Oh ???
Did you even stop to ?realize?
that I'd provided the OP with =several=, encouraging, helpful facts ...
pointers ???

Perhaps not, in your 'pell mell' rush to judgement.

> Not sure why 0_Qed bothered to post.

'Twas my Good Deed for the Day ... "is" why.

Google mastery depends upon the proper selection of rendered 'arguments'
..

FIY ... I found several pointers to useable, freebies ...
some of which I think I mite even have ,
but ahve 'since' moved on to better 'tools' .
Smile

Bang on the proper, =physical= button on the printer. Smile
Please ...
no "flame" for that.

> "Oł sont les neiges d'antan?"

I took 2 years of 'tech' German in collage,
little realizing( hind sight ) that Russian would have been far better
....
technical publications_wize.
A big Oops.
'French' =never= was( then & now ) a consideration of mine.

Qed.

PS- Where the hell were =YOU= when the <?> went up the 'pole' ???

PSS- I can just envision "it" ...
.. Dear Richard, writhing in agony, holding his sides ,
.. ROTFLHAO.
.. Buggers! Richard.

Hello John,

-nicer-

Perhaps 'yes' , perhaps 'no'.

I hold the 'tenet' that to teach the skill of fishing
is far worthier( nicer ?? ) than to supply a "fish" .

Our 'schools', over 'here' ,
seem to be straining to fashion "Morbidly Obese Mentalites" ...
sadly.

Actually, I made no Google search,
kinda knew I had the stand_alone CMOS listers,
never bothered to reafirm I realy had 'em' ...
because ...
I really dont use 'em much, anymore.

I'm tempted to suggest you look at the freebie Disk Mangaer(DM) package,
for your 'CMOS' purposes, & far =more= ...
but wont 'venture' , too awful far, in that direction.
Smile

You mite think me a victim of a bad case of PMS ...
nah,
just that my SLOB index is low today. ( Sweet Loveable Old Bastard )

Now that I am vying with Dear Richard,
for a Charm School Certificate ...
maybe I can get to occupy =his= lofty 'hill top' ...
with a bit more practice.
GRRrrrr !!! <bite> <bite> <bite>

Richard, Smile,
be 'nice' now.

Brilliant, now that is what I call a useful suggestion.

Memo to self, switch off flash, switch on macro focus. I have just
tried it; the screen on my camera is large and I can clearly read the
settings from the screen, therefore no need to print.

Most of us here, even those of minimal intellect have by now
discovered the search value of Google. We don't need your
help in that direction. In future if you point to Google, please
accompany your pointing with the appropriate keywords that you
yourself have used to research the Original Poster's question. Filling
this newsgroup with condescending advice is cheap -- filling it with
information useful to others sometimes takes a little extra personal
non-literary effort. However, the grateful thanks is very rewarding.

Hello John,

I promise to avoid any hint of condiscension,
if ...
you'll promise to avoid a rush to judgement.
