Why second COM port doesn't work in mine Dragon Plus MB? Top one works
OK, but anything i have connected to second one, - nada. I checked
BIOS, found nothing that affects COM ports at all, so where is
disabled? I have Win XP Pro. I just bought TV tuner card and remote is
connected to Com port. And when i connect it to top one, works, but in
config menu only COM1 is available, while COM2 is greyed out, so i
suppose XP doesn't see it at all.

In the BIOS select

Integrated Peripherals > Super IO Device > Onboard Serial Port 2

Usual setting is 2F8/IRQ3

The location may be different on your board - I am using the 0812 test BIOS,
and Soyo has moved things around in some BIOS releases.

I have 2ba8 BIOS. I looked and i did have set on auto -- both port 1 and 2.
But, in device manager, i have listed Serial port COM1, and ITE Virtual COM2
port - for smart reader. Is it this fault? in BIOS i have UART mode set to
SCR - maybe i should set it to something else - i have IrDA, ASKIR and
Normal.?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If you are using the SmartCard Reader, it becomes COM2 and does not allow
you to use the normal COM2 serial port.

Set UART mode to Normal instead of SCR and you should be able to set the COM
port up normally.

Aha. Thanks! I'll do that. So, either i have COM 2 or Smart reader...that's
funny arrangement. Luckily that SCR is more or less useless...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
