On TechTV they showed a company, AuctionDrop, which used a camera on a
tripod and the image of the camera was displayed on the Computer
Monitor in a Window on the screen. They were able to manipulate the
picture (size/position/name) right there and take the picture on
screen. They were nice clear pictures.

Does anyone know of software/cameras which will work this way?

Thanks.

At least some of the Olympus cameras can be controlled through the Camedia
software.

The Remote Capture software that comes with most Canon digicams, (the
powershot range - i.e the Gx-series, Ax0- and Ax00-series and surely
the Ixus range as well?) will do that provided you have a Canon
digicam, ofcource. It will also output to a tv.

The review of Canon A70 over at www.megapixel.net includes
screenshots and a short explaination of the program.

Hi george. I tried this with my Kodac but the thing timed out real
fast....I wonder how many new digital cameras DON"T time out.
