Canon Elan lens compatiable with Canon Digitial Rebel ?

Are lens from 35mm film Elan with or without and adapter compatible
with Digital Rebel. Clearly that will have a bearing on my purchasing.

I believe the Elan has the Canon EF mount, in which case its lenses can
be used on the Digital Rebel (which accepts EF and EF-S lenses).
