Hi,

I am new to this NG. If the question was answered several times before,
please forgive me.

My Canon G2 tends to make a lot of pictures with "red eyes". The red eye
reduction feature on the camera does not seem to help.
Wondering if anyone here experienced same problem and hopfully there is a
solution to it. I like everything on this digital camera except for this
trouble.

Thanks first.

"Red eyes" comes from the fact that the in-camera flash is too near
the lens and then you easily capture light reflections in the back of
the persons eyes (or something like that...) To solve the problem get
a decent flash that you can bounce (or atleast increase the distance
from the flash to the lens!) - the G2 has a hot-shoe, doesn't it?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I kind of figured what answer is coming to this post but I am curious why
some of mine and friends' point and shoot cameras with close distance
between flash and lens do not have the same issue....

Getting a dedicated flash on top of digital camera will definitely
discourage the intereste of bring a camera while going out.
I have a whole package of SLR equipments and I am not using now simply I
could not bring too many stuff with me besides three kids.

Also I am curious if anyone here is experiencing same problem with other
make or model of digital camera they have?

The best way, is to not get red eye.
If you have the person to not look straight at the camera, you will avoid
red eye.
