While my current 9800Pro has served me well its starting to struggle
badly in more recent releases and I suspect it could well be starting to
die.

As funds won't allow for the full system upgrade I need an AGP card that
has atleast the same performance as the 9800Pro (the more the better of
course).

I'm limited to around £100 (£120 if stretched) which I know wont buy a
great deal of power, but all I need is a stopgap until I can afford to
upgrade to a half decent A64 PCI-E system.

p.s. It doesn't have to be an ATI card (although I do prefer them).

Any suggestions appreciated.

if you suspect it may be trying to quit you may want to check the
thermal grease under the hsf, my 9800 pro had poor quality grease. maybe
clean it off and reapply some fresh, and lower the case temps. still a
good card really.

a 6600GT or 6800 would be your best bet. Many 6800s and LE models can have
the extra pipelines unlocked with rivatuner and that gives you a bloody good
card.
