Choosing a replacement hard drive

Seeing that my pc's hard disk drive is unfixable (per a GWSCAN and a Gateway tech ) I am going to have to replace it.



That will teach me not to get the extended warranty Anyway , I was wondering a few things.



1 Whether to buy a hard drive to install or buy a extended hard drive ? I would still like to use my GM5442 case with the sd card slots.



2 Whats a good brand? I had a SimpleTech external drive but had to send it back to be replaced.



3 What kind would I need to look for to use with my GM5442?





Thanks goodness its Christmas, lots of good deals. I do alot of recording of tv shows through my Media Center , so my hard drive gets alot of use .
