Post subject: My Computer Has Died

| I was having a wonderful time, playing Fallout 3, when all of the sudden in the middle of the game it froze and the screen was checkered with pixelated rainbow colored squares. I restart my computer only to get a blue screen (the squares stayed on this whole time). I can enter the computer in safe mode, (with the squares) but am unable to start it normally. I attempted a system restore but it solved nothing. I think there is something wrong with my Nvidia 7800 gtx video card! Please help me, thanks!

The video card may have failed...
or it could be corrupted drivers.
First thing I'd do is open the case and see if the fan on the video card has
failed
or if it has an external power connection that came off. >> Stay informed about: My Computer Has Died |

The least it could be is heat - leave the machine off for a while, then try
again. Perhaps one or more of the fans in the computer has failed. Perhaps
the case is just getting too hot while that game is running as it will be
heating the CPU and GPU to their max.
If it works OK after being off for a while, then try running with the side
off for a few days and if the problem does NOT recur, then it is simply
overheating. More case cooling would sort that out.
If it doesn't come on after a cooling down period, then something has either
come loose, or failed - see other replies! >> Stay informed about: My Computer Has Died |

It's a common problem with Fallout, i had it in Fallout 1...i think they
carry a bug from that time to newer version of that game. I had had the
same issues. Then afterall, i just saved that game more times often,
before i completely quited from gaming. >> Stay informed about: My Computer Has Died |

Even if the game has bugs, the symptom of having the squares
before even loading windows and the video driver indicates
the video card has failed... providing it isn't overly hot,
that it was left off till it cooled down for a retry as GT
indicated. >> Stay informed about: My Computer Has Died |
