Post subject: Connect an IDE drive to a ATAPI controller
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>cd-rom (more info?)

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to replace the cd-drive of a Mp3-cd
player with a IDE HDD?

The Mp3-cd player should have a IDE/ATAPI controller. Can I use some
kind of adapter to enable the ATAPI controller to talk to other
(non-ATAPI) buses/devices?

There are several adaptors that allow a USB Controller to read a
IDE/ATA/ATAPI drive but I guess the reverse functionality or
ATAPI<->ATA translation.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Siddhartha
