Those techs are meant to deal with the "vast majority of stupid users", the
type that according to Steve Jobs gets confused by having more than one
mouse button...

Meanwhile, some users that have a large number of apps open prefer the long
task bar spanning across two monitors, such that each "button" can show the
full app title.
