Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>supermicro (more info?)

I have a PIII600 running in a Supermicro P6SGU. Core 0 is approx 1.7v, and
Core 1 is approx 3.3v.

I ahve been able to establish that the Core 0 voltage is normal, but not tat
the core 1 volateg is normal. I am experiencing frequent random crashing,
and wonder if an incorrect core 1 voltage is to blame.

The system is NOT being overclocked.

Confermation of the correct Core 1 voltage/any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Nathan

I honestly don't know what the appropriate voltage are, but before I dug
that deep into things, I would check the power supply and memory. What
brand and wattage of power supply do you have? Have you checked the
output on the power supply. If it's an old or cheap power supply, it
may not be putting out clean power. If it fluctuates a lot, you may see
insability. Also, download a DOS based memory tester and make sure your
memory is good.

Hi. There were several different kinds of PIII 600's. "Upgrading and
Repairing PC's 14th Edition" shows voltages could be 1.65, 1.7, 2 or 2.05,
depending on which version you have. I am assuming you are talking about
how much voltage each processor needs to run. Is that what you are
referring to?

Thank you,
Jason Whorton
