NEC, Liteon , Plextor, Pioneer.

NEC and Liteon are probably the best deals, liteon if you can get a
good rebate deal. Some have gotten the 8x for as low as $79 or less
in various boxes like I/O magic and other reboxer brands I think. You
have to know what you are doing to get these deals though.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thank-you to all who replied, I see there was a difference of opinion on the
NEC drives? Issues with type of media they will burn??

Just curious why you think NEC DVD burners would be bad? Are there any
reviews you can point to that come up with bad results, or have you or
someone you know had a bad experience with one?

I'm just curious because I just bought an NEC 8x DVD burner. Smile

Nope Ive seen good reviews and posts about them and I have a 4x NEC
and its great just like all the other posts say.

Theres always some poster who bashes every brand. Ive seen one or two
say Pioneer and Liteon sucks.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Nope I have the 4x and it was widely known as a one of the best drives
could burn almost anything. In fact Pioneer has been mentioned in some
posts a unable to burn this and that which a NEC can burn.

I dont have the 8x but the posts Ive seen say similar things - good
drive. The liteon seemed to have lots of problems when it was being
introed but the posts now say its pretty good too though there are
some negative posts.

One thing - there are Pioneer fanatics. Just like in the old days
there were Plextor fanatics with CDRWs.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
