In general, I think that DVI is supposed to be better for HDTV output.

I have a 6600GT that has DVI currently connected to my HDTV. (I'm
running linux and X11 ) I recently found a cable and the manual
for my card that shows that I can also do component signals to run
in my HDTV monitor.

Does anyone know if there is any reason to look at connecting up
the component signals to my HDTV and getting my linux box configured
to use the coponent output or just stick with the DVI output that I
currently use?

Would 1360x768 resolution work with the coponent output ( it does not
work on the DVI output )? It's going to be a pain to get this configured
with my Linux setup, so if someone has already done the work... let me
know.

If I did try and configure it... does anyone know if the component
output is treated as a 2nd monitor ( like the DVI connector ) or is
it treated as 'tv out'?

Thanks - jack

DVI would provide you the cleanest display ... digital/digital. Or...
there is asolutely no good reason to convert digital (PC) to component
(analog) and then have your HDTV convert that component (analog) back
to digital to display ... digital/analog/analog/digital.

I have my Setup with Component 6600 Gt as well. But its conected to a
86cm HD Crt Widescreen TV.

It does 720p and 1080i. With Underscan it does 1112by666 and 1200 by
900 in 1080i mode.

Using Windows XP pro. And was easy to do. Linux maybe alittle harder.
Try posting ina Linux Groupo.
