My Dell Ultrasharp 1702 Flat Panel shows grey over the whole screen,
where it should be black, eg when logging on, other than the
Microsoft logon items on screen, everything else should be black--but
now it is grey. The color self test shows the RGB & W color
patches to be fine, but the black text instead of being sharp black
is now got grey and white lines(very thin--probably lcd spot sized)
making them less than sharp.
It occurs without even the DVI cable connected to the PC. Just
pressing the Auto Adjust or OSD menu button on the monitor brings up
this grey background which should be all black.
Is this anything to do with backlighting problem? When I log in to my
account, the wallpaper has most all colors to be fine except where
there is any shade of grey or black is where I see vertical pairs of
grey and white lines instead of being the colors expected.
I hate to think the monitor is gone bad and needs to be replaced. It
does not seem like it is such a major problem to need such, though
that is what Dell TS told me---which is already one alternative I
have in mind(I expected Dell to give me a more technical answer to
this problem--not --you need to replace the monitor--not much a
brainy answer).
Tnx for any info in advance
