I am helping a disabled lady sort a keyboard issue

When she types a g the screen displays g5
"" "" "" h "" "" "" h6
"" "" "" 5 "" "" "" g5
"" "" "" 6 "" "" "" h6

The Del key also behaves strangely, instead of deleting the character to
left it jumps right by one character and then deletes that!

I suspect that maybe the keyboard has partly failed and the matrix is
confused.

Any ideas of a fix for this or is it terminal?

Thanks
Nigel
