Post subject: Drive Image Over network
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>networking (more info?)

Hi all

I'm trying to reinstall win 98 onto my PC from an image on computer "A" to
my computer "B" using powerquest drive image 2002 and it's boot disk builder
program, but get the error "incorect syntax" after pc B has booted using the
boot disk made in boot disk builder, it gets to asking for the network
pasword which is not set so i press enter and get the message "command
completed successfully" then after a short pause i get "The syntax is
incorrect for help type Net Use /?" then the computer boots into caldera
dos,(typing Net Use /? gets the command not found error)
In the autoexec.bat file on the boot floppy made with boot disk builder the
line starting, Net Use is the UNC path i entered in the tcp/ip settings box
so i presume this is what is wrong.

So could someone please tell me what I am meant to enter in the tcp/ip setup
dialogue box for the drive letter (I'm guessing the drive on "A" where the
image is stored?) and the UNC path (I presume the full path to the image
file \\servername\c\images\win98\win98.pqi) but do i include the filename

I am using a win xp machine to create the boot disks does this make a
difference, the image is also on a win xp machine.

If anyone has used this program i will be very gratefull for any help

Drew
