Install the one stick. Enter the BIOS. Select settings you think
will work with dual channel. Save and exit. Shut down, turn off the
power, then add the second stick. Power up and see what happens.
I think I'd start by selecting a lower memory clock. The RAM may be
rated at DDR2-800, but try something slower. The idea is, to find
what conditions make it work, and what conditions it fails under.
Timing Mode [Manual]
Memory Clock Frequency [DDR2-533]
The board also has a Vdimm adjustment.
DDR2 Voltage Control [1.9V or 2.0V]

The manual doesn't show the ability to adjust memory timings, which is typical
of ATI BIOS design (some of their other chipsets offered "CAS" [fast or slow]).
The thing is, the registers exist, and are on the processor itself, and there
is really no excuse for not having access to Tcas, Trcd and so on. Not that
it would necessarily help in this case.
