I am starting a new thread to sort out my little problem here...

When I try to enable my secondary display on my Radeon 9800XT it just
goes back to primary after a split second.

I don't actually have a monitor hooked up to it yet but would that
still keep it disabled?

I need to install a driver onto it which I can't do until I enable
it...

Any ideas?

Cheers...

Yes you need a monitor attached in order to enable secondary
display...........with both analog and digital connected to the monitor from
your 9800XT
you should be able to see both connections under CCC ..one labeled analog
the other digital .It is under the Catalyst Control Panel that you need to
switch them so the digital is the primary display.Without a Samsung driver
your OS might display it a generic...
Samsung seems to only have one driver set for this monitor and its an exe
file so inside that must be the means to install the .inf file which most
likely covers both analog and digital. You should be able to check this under
Device manager
its been a loooong time since Ive had an ATI card.

Thanks again for your replies...

Yeah I have seen where to switch them in CCC but it doesn't say Analog
and digital...just primary and secondary....

The driver CD for Samsung is easy to use...you are correct it is an
exe and after you click it it launches a window where you can install
the analog or digital driver...but it also lets you select the display
adaptor to install onto...and it is here where I fall short because it
only lets be select primary (there is no secondary in the list)
because secondary is not enabled...

Well I've done more testing and now I know it just won't happen...

I plugged in my crt via the dvi - vga connecter and it worked first
time...I then installed the digital driver then restarted and plugged
my Samsung back in but when it loaded the driver for secondary was
back to "default monitor" and secondary was disabled...

Ahhh well....

have you tried another DVI cable to make sure the one you've got isn't
duff?
