Got a problem with firewire not working on my board. I updated the bios
using FlashMenu a short while ago, and now I've tried to hook up my Sony
PC-1 (which I know works ok), windows won't take it. There's a bit on the
abit website saying if you use the wrong version of the flasher, it takes
out firewire, so I reflashed it with the latest dos based util and bios and
still nothing. Any ideas?

tia,
Alex

Try reflashing the last known good bios via traditional DOS-flashing.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Reloading BIOS defaults and/or clear CMOS... after reverting to old
bios and clearing CMOS you should, in theory, have exact same
configuration as before, would then be looking at bios settings or
operating system changes.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
