I have built a flatbed printer from an old Epson Stylus 640 but need to fool
the
printer into thinking there is paper in, when the drive stepper is disabled
I have tried timing relays but can't get it right. Does any clever person
know how I do this. Maybe some way of resetting the control chip

I have a good knowledge of electronics but can't find the relevant info.

This would be a great project if it were possible.

Paper detection is typically either an optical sensor or
microswitch with a small springed plastic tab. Look in the
paper path and wires leading away from the circuit board to
find these sensors.

Yeh I do know this but its all about timing if you switch it too early or
too late it gives no paper light.I'm hoping for a way to switch the chip. I
want the feed off until I print.
Cheers

Well you didn't mention what chip it is, and if there's a
datasheet. If the printer is not entirely reconfigured yet
it might be possible to put a piece of paper in and see the
sequence and timing needed, and perhaps more than one switch
needs to sense the paper concurrently but not all of them at
once?

Hi
I try to build myself a flatbed printer BUT with Epson Stylus Photo
1290, because print size is A3+
(329x483 mm) and i have no sensor problem. If u need i can send u more
info about epson 1290
(service manual, service program etc..) .
(Can't help u with the Stylus 640, i have no ideea how the Epson 640
sensors works.)

Might be some help in here.... I keep saying I'll have a bash at this
for directly printing printed circuit board designs.

'press-n-peel,InkJet,PCB Etch,Etch PCB'
Select the printer shown in bold blue text will open the link for that
printer

and another one may be of interest.
