I bought a new Fuji Finepix A310
I wanted an AC adapter for it when I am using it
on the PC.Couldn't find a Fuji, bought a Phillips.
It is adjustable for all voltage, including the 3v
that I need for the camera. But it also has a
Polarity switch for the plus and minus. I have
read everything in the manual for the setting and
can't find it. I called Fuji and was told I could
order one for $45. but wouldn't tell me how to
set the polarity switch, for the + or -. Can
anyone help me or am I doomed to use batteries?

I don't know the answer, maybe someone will measure the voltage on
theirs and tell you. Also, I would strongly suspect that the camera
is protected from wrong polarity, but....
What I am most concerned about is your Phillips adapter. Does it
provide enough power? My hp735 camera requires a huge amount of
power: 2500ma at 3.3 volts. Not many ac adapters will handle that
much current.

The Philips adapter has a slide adapter to set the
input from 1.5,3,4.5,6,7.5,9 and 12. and
6different males. and a + or - for polarity
The camera has a - in a circle under the DC and a
+ in the circle under the 3V Does that help?

Look at the symbol beside the DC IN connector, it should be marked with the
polarity. (You may need a magnifying glass).
My Fuji FinePix 2650 is center positive, outer negative.

You should also see a line coming from both those circles with the + and -
in to a central double circle, one indicates the polarity of the outer
sheath of the plug, the other the inner sheath. If the + on your camera
points to the middle circle which is normal for Fuji cameras then leave the
switch on your charger pointing to positive.
Yes, Fuji won't give you any advise for third party adapters as they want to
sell their extremely over priced ones, but, as you have found you can by a
multi use one far cheaper which saves you having to carry around lots of
adapters when traveling which can end up quite heavy and a serious
consideration when flying.

I've been mulling over your problem and would bet good money that
your Phillips adapter will NOT provide enough current at the 3 volt
position. Current is measured in amps or milliamps (ma).
Does your adapter list the ma at 3 v?
