I'm using a Geforce 6800 XT with Windows XP. When playing certain older
games - most noticeably the Steam downloaded version of Half Life - I get
occasional corruption of textures in-game and in the menu, in the form of
multiple parallel horizontal white bars appearing across objects. The
problem seems to be more noticeable in 32-bit colour mode than 16-bit.

I recently installed Homeworld 2, and the same problem occurs with several
of the textures in this game.

Is there anything I can do to correct the problem? I've installed the latest
NVidia drivers, with no improvement.

Try the latest drivers provided by the actual manufacturer of the
card.

If that does nothing, start saving for a new card. It could mean
failing memory on the card.

While saving, hope that new nVidia driver releases fix the problem, so
you can spend the money on something else.

Thanks, that sounds about right.

Getting the latest NVidia drivers did decrease - but not eliminate - the
problem, but also buggered up video playback, so I reverted to a previous
release. I'll see if my card's manufacturer has any drivers to offer.

I recommend to update drivers and to download latest updates for Direct
X9c from Microsoft web page (at the moment the latest update is January
2007)
