For the first time in a year, my system booted up normally. i.e. w/o
having to hit restart after boot stalls. It was consistent, never
getting any worse. I just got use to doing this. "OK" you ask. "He
musta dun sumpin." Here's what I did, having nothing to do with
solving this problem which folks here suggested might be, power supply,
melting caoacitors, bad switch, bios malfunction, etc.
I was messing around in the bios attempting to make my cd rom the
second boot device. Didn't work right so I undid the change. While I
was messing around I decided to once again OC the 2400xp to 2600 by
changing the ram clock speed from 7.5(15) to 8 (16) times 133MHz.
Something I had done some years back and then reversed some yrs after.
That's all I did. Today it booted normally 2x. Of course, then my
broadband ceased to work, but that I fixed by powering down the modems
(one wireless). Who knows, tomorrow the rig might explode, but who
cares. The machine healed itself. Oh, yeah, we did do that Wiccan
incantation during the Winter solstice last month.... >> Stay informed about: Ha! Unbelievable. 8KHA+ boot stall problem disappeared...... |
