Post subject: Hard disk problem

I bought my desktop pc a year ago . Do a lot of recordings of Tv shows (Media center) and other downloads. A few days ago I received a message about "Windows detected a hard disk problem ". When restarting the pc I received a " Hard drive problem is detected ". Please hit any key.
After hitting a key it starts up my computer

I then decided to do a "restore back to factory" , after coping what I needed to save. I have done all the updates that needed to be done. Now I received a message:

"Windows detected a hard disk problem. Back up fille and Contact computer manufacture". Also it tells me
The following hard disk are reporting failure
Disk Name : ( It gives a bunch of numbers and letters, but not sure if I am suppose to put them in this message, for security reasons or something)
Volume D:\C:\

Not sure what to do now, my warranty is up . I opened up my pc to reinstall the wireless card. Hoping that maybe something is just loose.

Here is my system info

Gateway GM5442
Windows Viata Home Premium 23-bit Operating system
Intel(R) Core (TM) 2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHZ
2.00 GB RAM
Intel (R) 82945G Express Chipset family

Just found out there is nothing I can do for my Gateway. Seems a shame after just 15 months. Did not extend warranty. So seems I am shopping for a new drive:)
