Hello

I updated from Bios year 2000 from my abit ic7-g to the latest
version.

Following issue i found:

if you don't turn usb external hdd the pc won't boot,
if boot is turned on at the adaptec 29160 Controller!

If i turn off the option at the scsi controller that boot is possible
from the CD-om devices, the pc is booting without turning the external
usb hdd on!

I tested all bios versions and it seems that this appears only with
versions afer the year 2000!

I have the latest bios version of my adaptec (2001), so can't upgrade
my scsci controller ...

Has somebody experienced this before?

Also if Serial ATA is turned on in BIOS, Acronis is not able to
restore backups, says archiv is corrupt, turning it off,
solves the problem ...

Check the Hard Disk Boot Priority option in the Advanced Settings section in
the BIOS. Sounds like you have this set set wrong.

From memory it defaults to having "Bootable Add-In Devices" set at the top
of the priority list - which means the PC will attempt to boot from your
SCSI controller.

Put your chosen hard disk at the top of the priority list and it will
attempt to boot from this instead.

I tried it, it doesn't boot at all then ...
Only if i turn off SCSI boot from CD-ROM on the Adaptec 29160
Controller ...

But it should boot first from floppy, then CD-ROM (SCSI), then from
Harddisc ...

The think with bios version from year 2000 it works normal ...
I only changed the bios from the mainboard not the settings ...

I missed the first part of this thread, but if you haven't already,
make sure the 29160 bios is updated as well as the mainboard
bios.
