Post subject: What is 2 in Intel Core-2 Quad?
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>chips (more info?)

Is this 2 a version that does nothing to do with
number of processors? Is it an indication that
four processors are arranged in some kind of
pairs? What is this 2? Are all four processors
equal in all respects?

Intel Core 2 is the second generation of Intel Core architecture.
The number of processors are indicated by Solo, Duo, Quad, etc.

Apparently, Core Duo was short lived as Core 2 Duo took over.
