I have an FX5900XT card running on an Asus K8VSEDX board with a 2.2gh
Athlon 64 processor and 2048Mb of memory installed. The video card has
the latest drivers installed. The OS is XP SP2 with all updates
automatic.

The problem: when I play a video or avi file, the first one plays
fine. But if I then try to play a second one (after the first is
finished, obviously!) frame rate drops to about one per second.

Sometimes this will clear after a wait ten minutes or so; more often a
reboot is necessary.

Can anybody suggest what's going on? It's a real annoyance...

If that link gets borked, search the Microsoft Site/Google for "Windows
XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility"

Validation required, but that's not a problem for you since Pirates are
taught at birth how to fix the problem you describe! GL!
