Well, not screwing it up, but, it will suffer a little degradation both in
the rotation and saving. Read the thread and study the links, it's
explained prety well. Basically, if you are going to do anything to a
jpeg(jpg) besides viewing it, first save a copy in a lossless format, then
open that copy and work on that, then you can save a copy of that in jpeg if
you need it for web/mail use.

This is very true, bottom line is are you happy with the result? However,
it is a good idea to get into a good practice from the beginning and that
isn't difficult.

If you want to be sure, save the original JPEG in Photoshop (if you have
it) or uncompressed TIFF format before you do any manipulations. Then if
you still need a JPEG at the end save it back, while preserving the
uncompressed version for the future.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
