Hello,
I want to upgrade my MX3W Pro-E motherboard with a Celeron 1 Ghz processor.
According to the CPU compatibility test from the AOpen site, this should be
possible. But after I installed the new processor only the CPU fan starts
and the leds on the keyboard flash. I have used the default BIOS settings
and the auto setting for jumpers jp23 and jp29. I have upgraded my BIOS to
version R1.32. What settings do I have to use to be able to use the new
processor?
In the CPU compatibility test was written (step 2) that the following
settings were made: 'Enable AGP 4X and Item "Fast Write"'. Does anyone know
where I can find these settings? What do they do and are they important to
get the CPU working?
The motherboard is working with a Celeron 533Mhz processor. And the 1Ghz
processor is working on another system.

There were two 1 GHz Celerons, one based on the older Coppermine core
with 128 KB L2 cache, and the other based on the Tualatin core with 256
KB L2 cache. Are you sure the one you have is Coppermine core? It's
the only one that would work in your motherboard.

If you go to
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/celeron1a-oc.html and view
the image of the Tualatin Celeron, you'll see at the top of this image
http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/cpu/celeron1a-oc/processor.jpg
a 1000A/256. Yours should show the same thing if it's a Tualatin.
