K7S5A 3.1 CMOS/GPNV checksum error

I've been using this board for around 2 years, only using it for a
couple of hours a week. I then built a new pc, and didn't use this one
for a couple of months.

I swapped out the hard drive for a smaller one to make a pc for
someone else, but now it boots with the above error, and I have to
press F1 to change the clock or F2 to carry on booting with the
incorrect time.

A restart is no problem, but if the pc is shut down and restarted
after 10mins, the error occurs again. It seems fine when it's up and
running. It just doesn't seem to be able to hols the CMOS settings.

I've checked the battery voltage - 2.92, so I installed a new one -
3.08v. Same problem. I've cleared the cmos, and even adjusted the
battery spring clip to ensure a better connection, but the error is
still there on boot.

Any other ideas for a fix? The board is Rev 3.1, and the original
bios.

Try a new CMOS battery.
