Hi Everyone,

Here is my current configuration:

KT600 Dragon Ultra Platinum
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro {128mb}
WinXP {Sp1a}
Antec True Power 430 Power Supply

I just wanted to check if anyone having issues running these components
with *2* Hard drives {ATA 133 rated} on IDE1, and are you running at full
DMA Mode 6 according to your device manager. I have had some stability
issues {I'll elaborate if necessary depending on responses}. I think I have
nailed down the culprit but I just wanted to check here before I made any
hardware replacements.

Lastly if I might want to upgrade to a SATA drive, are there any SATA
issues I need to know about with this hardware combination??

Thanks for your time!

Ron

I have been using round cables, but that has not been the root of the
issue. I have an 80 gig Maxtor hard drive {6L080L4} that I think, after
only 2 years, has just plain gone bad. It will only operate in Pio mode
and the last month or so it started to make clinking noises when it starts
up. The access times have never been great, but I purchased a 30 gig
ATA133 drive that operates the way the 80 gig never has. At this point I
am gonna replace it before it gives up the ghost {and my data with it},
and give it a decent burial. I have tried everything from Bios settings,
jumper settings, master slave adjustment, Windows & Maxtor knowledge
bases, and I just plain give up. I just wanted to know if anyone else with
this setup has had problems... Strangely enough, it is ok in my
housemate's old ASUS K7M as slave {still Pio Mode} - go figure.
