Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>chips (more info?)

Has anyone had experience adding a second processor to IBM
Intellistation M-Pro ( 6898-19U).
The M-Pro has Intel Pentium II processor with MMX technology with 512MB
system memory.
The second processor I am adding is intel pentium II with MMX - it is
identical to the primary processor that is already installed.
I have enabled support for ACPI Multiprocessor PC in HAL.
The BIOS recognizes there are 2 processors.
The problem is that the PC is very sluggish - trying to open My
Computer, Explorer and anything else for that matter takes over 10 secs.

If I remove the second processor then the problem is no more - the
response is instant.
I have tried running ADDCPU.EXE that I obtained from IBM Support
Website.
I have flashed bios. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong
BTW, I am using WKS with SP3.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Tosh.
